We're all going on a - winter holiday... Part Eight

All too soon - it was time. Time to say good-bye. To return our car (Daddy drove us to the airport in C-U and then returned the car...yes, he was to enjoy a solo return to China as well) and the box of clothes and toys wonderful Cyndie had lent us for Sebastien.

We had endured a bout of croup the night before our last night in the States which necessitated visiting doctors and pharmacies in the midst of a blizzard on our last day. We sadly missed seeing a couple of friends at the end. But all in all we were so happy to have made it back there for a flying visit that was all too short.

Next time we venture to the States, our friends will be dispersed even further - which will make it hard to see as many people as we want to . We already had been unable to visit friends who had moved cities in our absence (aside from a couple we were able to meet halfway between cities). But that would have to suffice for this visit.

Alex and Sebastien were able to be reasonably entertained on the return flights.Alex enjoyed the interactive "Stranger Danger" display at O'Hare and wasn't happy to share the video computer with either Sebastien or another little girl who was interested in it. There was a children's play area and bathroom enclosure at Incheon airport in Korea - Mummy lay down on the bench seat to rest but her eyes stayed on the kids so not much rest.
And so we staggered home and had Daffy join us back in China 24 hours later.

A highlight of the trip would have to be Alex assuming any asian child she saw spoke Mandarin - and uttering "Xie xie" instead of "Thank you" for the first 24 hours or so of our holiday.

Mummy has decided this will be the last time she travels with two on her own for a long, long time...Daddy's birthday present came early!
