Christmas Caramels

After hearing us grown-ups talking about the Christmas Carols Alex took to calling them Christmas Caramels.Dancing to The Wiggles (see video) and watching the beautiful ‘Princesses’ in their gowns singing caramels was a highlight for Alex.

Mad about the hounds

Sebastien and Alex love Aunty Chelle and Uncle B’s dogs, Bruce and Anika. Whenever Sebastien spotted the dogs through the window, he put on this loud low growling voice whenever he saw them. They caught his attention quite regularly (giving mummy some time to do her own thing!).We put the little red chair up against the window so he could climb on and look outside himself. At one point Alex was being the big sister and ‘helping’ Sebastien look at the dogs. You’ve gotta love the big sister red shoes!

Horses, horses, horses!

Alex has taken after her Aunty Chelle and has developed an interest in horses. I think the fact that Barbie rides horses also has something to do with it.

She poured over my old horse & pony books & demonstrated how a show horse should stand when being judged (very funny at the time)

Luckily I had saved my old brown velvet riding helmet, gloves, jodhpurs, ribbons from Pony Club and books and put them in the toy box ready for her to discover.

And discover them she did! Once we got the helmet & gloves on, she needed a horse to ride - well luckily Clops (my stuffed horse) was also in the toy box, so she was all ready to go.

First post of a new year

Welcome to 2009!

First we were in Australia, then we were back, then we were entertaining friends from the States and then we were visiting Beijing with them, now we are back. Phew! Time to start a dedicated effort in updating the blog. Remember, it might be a good idea to join the bloglines on the right at the top of the blog so that you get an email if I update the blog rather than checking in yourself and waiting a seemingly interminable time for an update.

So, for the first post of the year I will say - I have some guest posts from Australia to post, I have some thoughts to post on what changed in the almost 2 months we were in Australia, I have more than a few photos of the kiddos - what with Sebastien practically running these days and Alex talking up a storm, and plenty more.

I am working on our usual "End of year missive" from the HRHs - and hope to have it mailed out before Valentine's Day this year (yes, I have a target) so will also post that here once sufficient time has elapsed for people to receive it.

Here's to a wonderful, happy, prosperous, healthy, (insert appropriate positive adjective here) etc 2009 to all of you - and to us!
