Well over the course of the year we have gradually raised the training wheels. She zips around the courtyard no problem. It got to the stage where the bike was listing to one side and she was compensating for it - we had raised the seat and probably should have taken the training wheels off months ago...But we just did it now, at the end of January 2010. She took to it reasonably well and soon it was like she had never had training wheels. Check out that grin of achievement when she stops!
She got a little too cocky though and a week later wanted to cycle off with Sebastien's ball to keep it from him - the only place to put it was between the handlebars and her chest...
Mummy wasn't too sympathetic about the fall either. PS She loves these boots - and they literally had to fall off her feet in pieces for her to stop wearing them. And that dress/leggings outfit was a staple in her closet and worn at least twice a week - thanks Aunty Chelle!
PPS A year is a long time - she looks so little to me in the first couple of photos.
PPPS And now we have to upgrade the bike as the wheel size is way too small for her to compete against the boys in racing around the courtyard...
