Playing virus tag

It feels like somebody has been sick every other month in China - given that we've spent almost two of the past seven months in Australia. We have been pretty stringent with our eating out - sticking more or less to the same three places for dinner - and have had only two gastro episodes to cope with. We are lucky that it's been viruses as that hasn't necessitated anything more than a doctor visit here and there, of itself an adevnture (and plenty of ibuprofin and acetaminophen/paracetamol). Pretty much one kid gets the virus, the other follows within a couple of days and if we're really unlucky, Daddy comes down with it too. The worst has been just after Valentine's Day when first Sebastien, then Brett and then Alex were decimated by a virus. That left Mummy to clean up - and then a week later, Mummy finally succumbed along with Sebastien again. There is only one thing to do when Sebastien or Alex are sick - plop them in front of the television and hope that they fall asleep. Not so comfortable on our marble floors however if you've any idea of the hardness of asian mattresses, you'd understand that a sheet or blanket laid out on a marble floor is positively heaven! Curious, I unzipped our mattress the other night - yes, in china the mattresses come with a zip right around the middle - to see what it looked like on the inside.
Not a lot of padding and those springs must be just for show because there isn't a lot of spring in them! I've since discovered that you can buy "western" mattresses or pillowtoppers for asian mattresses so if we move into our own unfurnished place, I'll know where to go!
