It's time for another visit to Australia - this time for scheduled surgery for Sebastien. This time it is just Sebastien and Mummy making the trip (planned to be around 5 weeks) as it is the middle of school; Mummy and Daddy didn't think that Alex coped well with returning to school after the long break in Australia over December. Not much is to be said about this visit - although it was nice to see people, the surgery was postponed due to a nation-wide shortage of the catheters required to complete the surgery. Mummy and Daddy discussed whether to wait until supplies arrived or cut our losses and return early to China. In the end, after just over 3 weeks we left for China. We will plan for another try in July - the surgeon has told us he is storing catheters for Sebastien in his surgery so that they don't go "missing".
Positives: Sebastien was seen by his surgeon and we have adjusted the surgery type. Mummy made a referral for her knee. We saw Tristan play basketball. We ate hot cross buns. We visited with family and friends. We saw the new Portrait Gallery. We helped celebrate Uncle Tim's birthday.
Negatives: We didn't achieve the main thing we were there to achieve. We need to visit Australia an additional time which we hadn't planned for. Missed Kylie's birthday party. Three weeks is a long time to be away from Alex and Daddy.
Here's crossing everything that it works to plan next time.
