A new year, a new classroom

Going up a level in kindergarten meant new teachers (aside from one) and a new classroom. But most of her class remained the same - they just had about 10 more added (going from around 30 to around 40 in the class). The decoration is much the same - homework on the walls (remember the castle homework? Here are the other houses.)A "cloud" of classmate hearts - Alex is in there somewhere!!
The bathroom and sleeping area are still the same - you know this is "winter" because the beds have quilts and thicker mats instead of rattan pillows and rattan/bamboo mats as they do in summer.
Mummy got the opportunity to visit the classroom when she attended a teacher/parent meeting in the class (taking along a student interpreter) to meet the new teachers. The nice thing is that the head teacher made a point of telling Mummy that if there was something that needed to be conveyed and English was the only way, then she (the teacher) had a husband who read English so a note would suffice. Nice. Though we try really hard to communicate in Mandarin (or take along someone to help translate - there are also a few parents who have offered to help if required).

The school has a website where Alex's class has photos so I will post later a "school year" selection here.
