Hanging out in Canberra - before the hospital

We enjoyed our time in Canberra. At the moment, all of Mummy's and more than half of Daddy's siblings live in Canberra. So there is plenty of family to see - and have babysit.

We really enjoyed reading time at the National Library of Australia. Then we played a great "I Spy" game with different things in the building - Aunty Annie knew all about it - and followed that with an inside picnic downstairs in the cafe - after all it was winter! We spent a lot of time playing with our cousins Chelsea and Kalan. Daddy even read a story to someone other than Alex or Sebastien!Kalan has a lot of Thomas the Tank Engine and The Wiggles toys.Chelsea has lots of princess dressups and a kitchen too!
We also enjoyed hanging out in our own back yard - who knew that a washing basket trolley could be so much fun?!
Because we don't have an oven in China - nor access to many of the things you'd normally need to cook in one - we really enjoyed cooking with different people. Alex helped Aunty Chelle make dessert at Aunty Lyndall and Uncle Pip's housewhilst Sebastien helped Uncle B watch the Aussies play cricket.
Alex didn't finish her dinner so she took her lemon tart home to have the next night.Afterwards, Aunty Lyndall played the piano and we all sung along. Uncle James and Aunty Clare even danced! Alex and Sebastien love Uncle Pip's piano - whenever we visit them the kids head straight into the piano room.
Not even Uncle Pip's mummy could escape reading Alex a story, or six.Pretty soon our first week was up and it was the night before Sebastien went into the hospital. Alex enjoyed a sleep-over (her first for a long time) at Aunty Lyndall and Uncle Pip's. When Alex woke up afraid in the middle of the night, she climbed into bed with them and Yoda helped her to fall back asleep. Yoda has now replaced Obi as #1 dog in Alex's heart.
