Boxing

Our boxes that we'd sent her from the States had arrived and Brett, armed with his passport, collected them from the university mailroom and brought them home. All thirteen of them - and most of them showing signs of wear and tear from their journey. Taped up with tape from the Chinese postal service, we're not sure where the damage occurred but I did manage to lose many magnets and other small items that had fallen out along the way. Opening them was like Christmas as Alex, amazed to see things that had been in our home in America, kept commenting - "it's just like we had in America" and "they came all the way to China!"

Now I feel like our apartment is more like our home. We had spent the morning walking along the water and watching all the boats fishing. Some of them look like there's nothing but rope holding them together. We also saw several wedding parties having photos taken and it seems that beach photos are common here - I shall write an entire post on the intricacies of the wedding photograph package!
That night was the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics - the entire fortnight had passed by with us watching almost nothing of the events and this was not to change this evening - and we had an early bedtime as Brett was to start at the office the next day and we were also to have our preschool home visit in the afternoon.
