Jackpot!

So now we can add Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease to our list of afflictions for Sebastien.

So in the first 9 months of Sebastien's life he's enjoyed:

In comparison:

By the time Alex was three, she'd had only a couple of colds, a bout of roseola (she had enjoyed a visit to the ER due to a fall on her noggin onto concrete though, plus a couple of split lips and a goose-egg on her forehead - remember Auntie Chelle?)

What is he going to do for a finale? I'm hoping that our move to China doesn't give him too much scope for drama!

Alright already!

So I know that I'm very far behind in posting to the blog - I have a million photos in my photos folders just waiting for the associated stories to be written. As Brett is away this weekend at a conference, and I'm doing it all for myself, I'll also try to update the blog. Here's just a taste of what's to come:

Sebastien not only crawls, but pulls up, cruises and walks holding onto two fingers (well, it's very wobbly baby walking) - oh, and he has two teeth.

Alex is in summer school four mornings a week plus taking swimming lessons four afternoons a week.

I grew up where it was dusty and boring (or is that boring and dusty?)

See you later this weekend!

Alex's words IV

Although Alex resists mightily, we have tried to continue having a "quiet time" of (hopefully) 2 hours each afternoon - a time where we rest on our beds...no books, no toys, no nothing. This afternoon, she was plaintively calling out from her bedroom:

"Is quiet time over?"

Then when she heard the usual "You have half an hour - I'll tell you when Quiet Time is over", she said:

"But I can't sleep without playing..."

Quite!

Summer School?

After dropping Alex off at Summer School (8.45-11.45am Mon-Thurs) we usually hit the library - can't beat airconditioned comfort, plus in these days of $4/gallon petrol it is nice to hang around instead of driving back and forth.

Sebastien really enjoys the large wooden play station cube as he can hang on, bounce, cruise, whatever really. And it doesn't move an inch!

This video I'm still trying to work an edit to rotate it 90 degrees but you get the idea - I'll change it up when I work it out.

Going Swimming

Now that summer is practically here (and we've only 3 months left in C-U) we've purchased our swimming passes. Last year it was Sholem, this year the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. It's a hit with Alex who thinks that the school's Tiger mascot painted on the wall is Shere Khan from the Jungle Book story - a positive thing. We've been three times already - and Alex has been a handful each time. It's certainly hot enough (in the 90s this past week) so we'll be going a lot more - and sooner or later I'll get that "Sebastien's first swim photo"...

A blog-cation

Well, it has been a week with no new posts from me (not that I'm lacking in material) so it seems like I've had a mini blog-vacation. Reality is that Brett's been burning the midnight oil preparing for his prelim defense and I've been, well, busy. Things have settled down a little now, so look for some updates later this week.
